Our Story
My name is Caitlin and with my business partner Courtney we are the creators of THE Apprentice Planner & our newest planner THE Salon BOSS Planner.
We have owned our salon in Tasmania for over 15 years and have employed over 17 apprentices. In this time, we have obviously made lots of mistakes and learnt A LOT!
Our Planner Story began when our personal lives and salon got busier than ever and tracking our apprentices progress and helping them grow became an impossible task we just couldn’t keep on top of, and the apprentices themselves found it increasingly harder and more and more overwhelming!
This was when we made our very first Apprentice planners.
The instant organisation and change in our apprentices was just incredible, they had more clarity, direction and knew exactly where they were at and where they needed to be!
Not to mention the shift of ownership of their apprenticeship and real motivation to be their very best! It was obvious to us that we couldn’t hide this secret, we need to share it with EVERYONE!
AND SO…. THE APPRENTICE PLANNER was born!
After the feedback from our first year of launching THE APPRENTICE PLANNER in 2025, we got straight on to working on one for salon owners as let’s be honest, we get overwhelmed too!!!
AND SO …… this year we are also bringing you ….
THE SALON BOSS PLANNER !
We use our planners to:
● Guide our weekly meetings and keep track of what we’ve agreed to do.
● Plan staff courses and education ahead of time.
● Set achievable goals with our apprentices, record their progress and work out their next steps.
● Help apprentices plan models for school, capture notes from teachers and remember what they need to practise.
● Plan social media in advance.
● Write down valuable advice from mentors, ideas from training and lessons we want to bring back to the salon.
● Look back on our notes and see how much we’ve grown, both individually and as a team.
Bottom line our planners help everyone take ownership of their goals and follow through on their responsibilities. They also give us one place to keep the conversations, ideas and learning that might otherwise be forgotten.
